Firefighting tanker company inks Douglas County as client

COLORADO SPRINGS — Global SuperTanker Services, the owner of the Colorado Springs Airport-based Boeing 747-400 equipped for battling wildfires around the world, has signed its first U.S. contract with Douglas County and is seeking similar agreements with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Cal Fire and the U.S. Forest Service.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports that the $200,000 agreement with Douglas County puts the world’s largest firefighting aircraft, which can dump 19,200 gallons of water or fire retardant on a single run, on call when needed.
