French dairy company reaffirms plans to acquire WhiteWave

DENVER — A Danone spokesperson has confirmed that the French diary company still plans to acquire WhiteWave Foods (NYSE: WWAV).

At the CAGE conference in the United Kingdom, Danone’s chief financial officer made positive comments about the takeover, which a spokesperson later confirmed.

Danone said it is in final conversations with the U.S. Department of Justice and a decision should come shortly.

The acquisition was announced in July, but in November the acquisition was delayed after facing opposition from watchdog groups over antitrust concerns regarding too much control of U.S. certified organic milk for one company. It was reported then that the takeover is planned for about $10 billion.

WhiteWave is a Denver-based company that has its Americas Food and Beverage segment in Broomfield. It was started in Boulder.
