FORT COLLINS — Columbine Health Systems, led by owner and chief executive Bob Wilson, on Monday said it will construct 34 patio homes at its senior-care campus in Fort Collins, along with 45 independent-living apartments and a 45-bed skilled nursing facility at its campus in Windsor.
The Columbine Patio Homes will be constructed at the corner of Shields Street and Drake Road on the health system’s 53-acre campus in Fort Collins. Construction is expected to be completed by May 2018.
The homes will have floor plans similar to Columbine’s existing Westwood Patio Homes in Windsor. The designs include step-free entrances and homes, wider halls and doorways, accessible bathrooms and showers and accessible kitchens with reachable appliances and cabinets for storage. A lease for a patio home includes 24-hour maintenance, lawn and landscape care, snow removal and some utilities.
The campus in Fort Collins already has apartments, health and rehabilitation beds and independent-living units, and tenants are provided home care, elder-care case management, a pharmacy, medical equipment, geriatric education and a health club.
Two new facilities will be built on the corner of 14th and Main streets in Windsor.
The Westwood independent-living facility is planned as a 45-apartment, two-story structure with one- and two-bedroom apartments. It will be Fort Collins-based Columbine’s fourth independent-living facility within its system. The Wexford is located on the Columbine’s campus in Loveland, and the Worthington and The Winslow are located on its campus in Fort Collins.
The single-story, 45-bed skilled-nursing facility will offer private rooms for short-term rehabilitation, long-term care and hospice.
The campus in Windsor already includes patio homes, health and rehabilitation units and home-care services. The company plans to convert its Columbine Commons Health & Rehab facility in Windsor to a 30-bed, private-room dementia-care facility.
The company said the Windsor campus expansion will add approximately 125 new jobs to the area.
For all three projects, architectural design is being completed by Fort Collins-based r4 Architects, and Fort Collins-based Beacon Construction is the contractor.
