BOULDER — Two co-founders of Boulder-based Namasté Solar Inc. are among a four-man ownership group that has acquired McLean Forge & Welding, an artistic metal fabrication and welding shop in Boulder.

Namasté co-founders Ray Tuomey and Blake Jones, former Namasté sales director Dan Yechout, and Paul Szlyk, a former employee at McLean Forge & Welding, have acquired the company from its founder Barrie McLean for an undisclosed amount. McLean, known as the Iron Man of Boulder, founded the company in 1984.

Tuomey and Szlyk will run day-to-day operations, while Yechout and Jones will act as advisers to the company. Tuomey said the company will have about five employees, including himself and Szlyk.

The shop specializes in custom artistic metal work, steel fabrication and repair, including deck and stair railings, home furnishing and architectural features.

Tuomey’s other venture, Rejas Designs, will add original papercut-inspired designs as options to the offerings at McLean Forge & Welding. The new ownership group said it will look for ways to decrease the company’s carbon footprint, expand energy efficiency and bring a socially conscious aspect to McLean Forge & Welding.

An open house and grand reopening and ribbon-cutting is set for 4 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 3, at 1779 Valtec Lane.
