Wyoming company opening Jump Craze in former Longmont Sports Authority

LONGMONT — A Wyoming-based owner and operator of indoor trampoline parks has leased space at the Village at Burlington shopping center in Longmont to open its third center and first in Colorado.

Owners Shawn McCoul, David Gallup and Bruce Hansen of Wyoming formed Jump Craze Longmont LLC to lease the 28,000-square-foot building at 2215 Ken Pratt Blvd. from Niwot-based Burden Inc. The space previously housed a Sports Authority sporting goods store.

The Jump Craze park in Longmont will be equipped with trampolines and foam pits in open areas, and special areas for dunking a basketball, dodgeball games, obstacle courses patterned after the television series American Ninja Warrior, gymnastics-style routines and a climbing area.

There are also special areas for kids shorter than 46 inches.

The center will have a concessions area and be available for birthday parties and other group events.

“The ninja course will be our first, and we also will introduce for the first time a surfboarding area, with the surfboard attached to cables above a foam pit,” McCoul said.

The company opened its first Jump Craze trampoline park in Casper, Wyo., in 2014 and its second park in Rapid City, S.D., in 2015.

“This will be the largest of our three parks,” McCoul said. “We just submitted plans to the city and are in the process of studying bids for the interior work.”

He said the company works directly with a trampoline manufacturer to install the trampolines, but there is other work to be done to make the space ready.

McCoul said it will take about $2 million to equip and renovate the space, and hopes to have it open by March. It will employ four full-time workers and about 20 part-timers, he said.

Earlier this year, Evergreen-based The Wild Game leased the 28,289-square-foot former Office Depot site at the shopping center for an entertainment center that includes bowling, a bar, arcade and live music space. It is expected open in February or March, a company employee said.
