BOULDER — Local investor Scott Littlefield closed recently on the $6.9 million purchase of the downtown Boulder building that houses The Walrus Saloon, with plans of renovating the office space on the upper floors.
The three-story building at 1911 11th St. sits at the northwest corner of 11th and Walnut. It was built in 1916, designed originally as a grain-storage facility.

Littlefield purchased the 23,000-square-foot building from John Thacker.
The Walrus occupies the basement of the building, with three floors above.
Boom Properties real estate broker Todd Walsh, who represented Littlefield in the deal, said there are no plans for changes to the interior of The Walrus. But extensive changes will be made to the upper three floors and some of the architectural characteristics of the building. Littlefield also plans to add energy-efficient attributes and some new tenant amenities.
“We’re trying to find a way to bring back the initial character,” Walsh said.
The building is nearly 100 percent occupied by several companies, including Re/Max Alliance. Walsh said some companies will have to move out during renovations.
Walsh added that once the renovations are complete, the building would be marketed “ideally” to tenants interested in leasing full floors.
