McWhinney plans five-building complex in North Park development

BROOMFIELD — McWhinney, a real estate development company based in Loveland and Denver, plans to build a five-building office campus in its North Park development in Broomfield. The 40-acre campus would be located on West 160th Avenue, just east of Sheridan Parkway.
The proposed North Park Flex #1 development would include a total of 500,000 to 750,000 square feet, with each building encompassing 100,000 to 150,000 square feet and targeting one or more office, manufacturing or flex light-industrial tenants.
The Broomfield City Council will consider a concept review for the project in a study session Tuesday. No action is to be taken at the study session, which will provide city council members an opportunity to discuss any concerns about the project, including architecture, landscaping, signage, pedestrian and vehicular access, and impact on adjacent properties.
If the project proceeds, McWhinney would submit a more-detailed site-development plan. Documents on file with the city indicate that McWhinney intends to develop the project in phases, with the westernmost office building to be built first.
McWhinney principal Troy McWhinney could not be reached for comment.
North Park encompasses 1,051 acres and is located west of Interstate 25, south of Colorado Highway 7 and north of Northwest Parkway. The project is zoned for office, services, retail, manufacturing, and research and development.
McWhinney in September sold 106 acres at Colorado Highway 7 and Sheridan Parkway to JPMorgan Asset Management Global Real Assets, the real estate arm of JPMorgan Chase Bank. The company intends to build a $220 million operations center on the land
