Fort Collins resumes rebates for utility efficiency

FORT COLLINS — Fort Collins Utilities’ Efficiency Works-Business program is resuming approval of rebate applications, thanks to an additional $1.46 million in funding that was approved this week by the city council.

The public-private partnership with Platte River Power Authority helps commercial building owners reduce utility costs by identifying and implementing upgrades for more efficient use of electricity and water. The additional funding allows local businesses to continue investing in efficiency improvements, while maintaining momentum toward the city’s energy-policy and Climate Action Plan goals.

“Efficiency is 50 percent of the 2020 CAP goal,” said John Phelan, energy services manager for Fort Collins Utilities. “The fact that customers are willing to match $3 to $5 for every $1 incentive speaks volumes about our community’s commitment to managing energy use.”
