Larimer County seeks input on future of The Ranch

LOVELAND — Larimer County is seeking public suggestions as it kicks off a planning effort to shape the future of The Ranch Events Complex.

This yearlong process will provide multiple ways and venues for residents to weigh in on how facilities and management of The Ranch can be improved. The events complex, east of Interstate 25 and north of Crossroads Boulevard in Loveland, includes the Budweiser Events Center, First National Bank Exhibition Halls, Ranch-Way Feeds Indoor Arena, McKee 4-H, Youth and Community Building and grounds.

Part of that planning may include a large chunk of land adjacent to a tract the county already owns on the north side of The Ranch. Larimer County is in discussions to gain that parcel as part of a land swap with Windsor developer Martin Lind’s Water Valley Land Co. Lind is partnering with a Kansas developer on a 90-acre development at the northwest corner of Crossroads Boulevard and Fairgrounds Avenue that would include 425,000 square feet of retail space, 426,500 square feet of office space, two hotels, a movie theater and 825 apartments, among other amenities. About a third of the land eyed for the project is owned by Larimer County. But under a deal with the county, the developers would take ownership of that land in exchange for the larger tract on the other side of The Ranch.

Suggestions also will be taken about improvements at county-owned reservoir parks, including Horsetooth, Flatiron and Pinewood reservoirs and Carter Lake.

Residents can take a brief initial survey and sign up for email updates on the planning process.
