Sports Authority seeks to break sponsorship deals with Broncos, Rockies
A Sports Authority request in bankruptcy court to end its sponsorship deals with the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and several other professional sports franchises would not affect the going-out-of-business retailer’s naming rights contract for the Broncos’ stadium.
The Denver Post reports that Englewood-based Sports Authority made the request on Friday, naming deals with the NFL’s Vikings, Giants, Jets and Eagles, as well as baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers, among others.
Sports Authority is in the process of liquidating its merchandise and store leases.
