First National Bank announces $375,000 in community development grants

FORT COLLINS —  First National Bank announced Tuesday that it has awarded $375,000 in community-development grants to 18 organizations in Colorado and Nebraska.

The grants support affordable housing, educated workforce and economic-development programs.

First National Bank awarded $95,000 to nine organizations in the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado. Grants for affordable-housing programs will contribute toward construction or rehabilitation of 19 homes or housing units and provide homeownership education to 130 individuals.

These include:

$10,000 – Thistle Communities: renovation of an eight-unit affordable housing complex in Boulder.

$10,000 – St. Vrain Valley Habitat for Humanity: supports the construction of a single-family home in the Poplar Grove area in Longmont.

$10,000 – Loveland Habitat for Humanity: supports the construction of a cost-efficient quadplex in Loveland.

$10,000 – Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity: supports the construction of a single-family home.

Grants supporting educated-workforce initiatives will enable 1,100 individuals in Colorado to move closer to self-sufficiency.  These include:

$15,000 – Salida del Sol Academy: supports a summer enrichment program for at-risk students in Greeley.

$10,000 – Success Foundation Serving Greeley: personalizes learning for low- and moderate-income students through the use of technology.

$10,000 – Student Recovery Project:  supports academic enrichment and character building for at-risk high school students to ensure graduation in Greeley.

$10,000 – Boulder Housing Partners:  provides academic and career support to youth living in affordable housing to encourage graduation and post-secondary enrollment.

$10,000 – Project Self-Sufficiency:  assists low-income, single parents in their efforts to achieve economic independence and become free from community and government assistance in Fort Collins.

In the Omaha area, First National Bank awarded $280,000 in community development grants to nine organizations.
