Landscape business Swingle opens Firestone branch
FIRESTONE — Swingle Lawn, Tree and Landscape Care, a nearly 70-year-old Denver-based business, has opened a new regional headquarters in Firestone.
More than 100 people, including Carbon Valley Chamber of Commerce executive director Julia Davis, turned out on Thursday for the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at the 16,000-square-foot building at 4104 Sable Ave.
Thomas Tolkacz, Swingle’s owner and chief executive, purchased the building for $1.1 million in June 2015 through the entity Sable Boulevard Property LLC from Hemmer Ventures LLC, according to Weld County public records.

Swingle had been servicing parts of the region from leased space in Lakewood but has moved that operation to Firestone, said Sara Kaelin, the company’s public-relations and social-media coordinator. The Firestone building is Swingle’s third permanent branch; it also has a main office in Denver and a Northern Colorado office at 1805 E. Lincoln Ave., Unit A, in Fort Collins.
The company was founded in 1947 by arborist and tree surgeon John Swingle. “Since then, Swingle has grown into one of the most respected and innovative landscape-care companies in America,” Tolkacz said in a prepared statement. “Our new facility expands upon Swingle’s rich history and commitment to always stay ahead of the pack.”
Part of that growth included acquiring competing companies. It bought out two Fort Collins-based companies, Arborworks Tree Care and Hyland Lawn and Tree care, in 2005 and 2006 respectively. Then in 2014, Swingle purchased Golden-based Advanced Tree and Lawn Concepts and Longmont-based Nitro Green of Boulder County.
The new office will provide both residential and commercial lawn care, tree service, pest control and holiday lighting in Northern Colorado communities.
“Swingle currently employs over 50 talented individuals at our northern facilities, with the hopes of adding another 75 as we continue to expand our service area,” said Tom Lynch, Swingle’s Northern Colorado regional manager. “We’ll definitely be looking to the town of Firestone and nearby communities to fill those positions.”
