Region’s apartment rental rates range widely

Much of the region, including Fort Collins, Longmont, Greeley and Loveland continued to see apartment rents that were significantly more affordable than the state average in December.

And while Boulder’s apartment rents remain the highest in the state, percentage increases there are nothing compared to what some of Colorado’s cities are seeing.

December figures were released by Apartmentlist.com on Monday for 21 Colorado cities.

The median rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Boulder in December was $2,010, unchanged from the same period in 2014 and down slightly from November. Golden came in second behind Boulder at $1,770 per month for a two-bedroom, while Broomfield was third at $1,680. The median monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Boulder, meanwhile, was $1,450, up 1.8 percent from the same period a year earlier but down 1.5 percent from November.

The median two-bedroom apartment rent in Colorado in December was $1,320, and the median one-bedroom rent was $1,100, up 3.9 percent and 4.7 percent respectively from a year earlier. Despite its own lofty spot on the list, Broomfield’s two-bedroom increase year over year was only 2 percent, well below the state figure.

The rest of the region’s cities included in the rankings all fell among the bottom third in terms of median two-bedroom rates in December. In Fort Collins, the median was $1,150. Longmont came in at $1,100, Loveland at $900 and Greeley at $860.
