The ski industry’s economic impact in Colorado is about $4.8 billion per year, according to a new report, nearly double what it was just 10 years ago.

The Denver Post reports that the study, released Wednesday by Vail Resorts and Colorado Ski Country, attributes 46,000 year-round jobs to the industry. The study, conducted by Boulder-based RRC Associates, also showed that Colorado residents accounted for nearly half of the state’s record-high 12.6 million skier visits during the 2013-14 season.
