Greeley Stampede hires Cox as new marketing manager

GREELEY — The Greeley Stampede announced Tuesday that it has hired Matt Cox as its new marketing manager.

Cox will be responsible for implementing marketing and promotion campaigns for the upcoming 2016 event, creating promotional materials, overseeing the event website and social-media outlets, and growing the event’s profile through regional community engagement. The annual event, which will be held June 23 through July 4 next year, draws approximately 250,000 people from the United States and abroad.

Cox has more than 15 years of experience in marketing, public relations, design and journalism. He has managed large marketing campaigns as the marketing and public-relations manager for the Wyoming Business Council, was a graphic designer for the F.E. Warren Air Force Base and was a reporter for a weekly community newspaper in Arizona. He has also served as an assistant media lead on the public-relations committee for Cheyenne Frontier Days since 2008.

“We are excited for Matt to join our team,” Justin Watada, Greeley Stampede general manager, said in a prepared statement. “His experience with marketing, public relations and graphic design will be a great asset to the Greeley Stampede.”

Cox said he believes his experience, specifically in social marketing, will be a boon for the event’s upcoming season.

“I think the Stampede is positioned well to expand its digital footprint through the creation of compelling social content,” Cox said. “I look forward to working with this great team on this great event.”

Cox’s first day will be Monday, Nov. 23. He replaces Andy Segal.
