Foothills’ developer updates store-opening schedules

FORT COLLINS — Apparel stores Nordstrom Rack and H&M will open Thursday at the redeveloped Foothills site in midtown Fort Collins, according to an updated schedule released Monday.

According to a spokesman for Alberta Development Partners, the Greenwood Village-based firm that is redeveloping the mall site on South College Avenue and Foothills Parkway, the two stores will join several others that already are open. One of those, Zales Jewelers, will move into a permanent space on Saturday.

The nine-screen Cinemark movie theater is to open Oct. 29. Bar Louie, which had planned to start business on that date as well, has pushed its opening back to Nov. 17.

Ways to thank a caregiver

If you have a caregiver or know someone who has been serving as a primary caregiver, March 3rd is the day to reach out and show them how much they are valued!

Also opening in November will be Verizon, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Gymboree, Custom Land T-Shirts, Custom Apparel and Smashburger, with Unique Eyebrows to follow in December.

The center has planned holiday festivities for Nov. 13, including a tree-lighting ceremony, performances by local music groups, appearances by Santa Claus and Colorado State University mascot Cam the Ram, food sampling from Foothills restaurants and prizes, including general-admission movie tickets for a year at the new movie theater.

Planning to open — or reopen — for Foothills’ grand opening in 2016 are The Melt, C.B. & Potts, Select Comfort, Matador, Longhorn Steakhouse, J. Crew, Zoe’s Kitchen, Bad Daddy’s, Maximum Boutique, Torchy’s Tacos, Sports Authority, Grimaldi’s, Lenscrafters, Snappy Nails, Hot Topic, T-Mobile, Ulta, Francesca’s and Loft.

Already open at Foothills are Macy’s, Maurice’s, Buckle, Jewelry Emporium. Bath & Body Works, Payless Shoe Source, Zumiez, Finish Line, Victoria’s Secret, Vans and Ross Dress for Less.

A GNC store also is open, but will move to a different location in the shopping center next spring.

Work began in August 2014 on the $313 million redevelopment of the 77-acre shopping and entertainment center, but inclement weather in the first half of this year led to 82 lost workdays, according to representatives of Alberta Development.

When complete, the redevelopment will include 365,321 square feet of retail space in the enclosed mall, 278,744 square feet of detached retail space and the three-level, 24,659-square-foot Foothills Activity Center, which replaces the old Youth Activity Center that had been at the corner of Monroe and Stanford drives.

Loveland-based development firm McWhinney has filed plans with the city of Fort Collins to build 400 apartments on the site as part of the redevelopment.
