New Belgium to add West Virginia distributors

FORT COLLINS — New Belgium Brewing will begin selling its products in West Virginia early next year, the brewery announced Thursday.

The addition of West Virginia as the 41st state in which the Fort Collins-based brewer distributes its beers will come as it activates added capacity with the opening of a new brewery in Asheville, N.C.

“We’ve spent a lot of time in West Virginia this past year, and there is definitely a strong, emerging craft scene there,” said Rich Rush, New Belgium’s divisional sales director. “We’re excited to get to work and to begin a great and long-lasting relationship with the beer drinkers, retailers and our distributor partners in West Virginia.”

Distributors in West Virginia that will handle New Belgium products as of Feb. 15 will include Capital Beverage Co., Northern Eagle, Wine and Beverage Merchants of West Virginia, Eagle Distributing Co., The American Beer Co. and Jefferson Distributing Co.

Initial offerings will include Fat Tire, Ranger IPA, Slow Ride Session IPA, a new year-round offering, and Spring Seasonal. Draft, bottles and cans all will be available immediately, the brewery said.
