Erie, Encana reach new memorandum of understanding on drilling operations

The town of Erie and Encana Corp., a major oil and gas driller in Northern Colorado, have come to terms on a memorandum of understanding regarding drilling in the community.

The Denver Business Journal reports that Erie’s board of trustees will vote on the agreement on July 28.

Hydraulic fracturing in and near the community has been contentious between the two sides as rapidly growing Erie expands its footprint and Encana tries to capitalize on the oil and gas reserves in the area.
