Noble Energy closes acquisition of Rosetta Resources

Noble Energy Inc. (NYSE: NBL), one of the major oil and gas drillers in Northern Colorado, announced Monday that the company’s stockholders have approved the acquisition of Rosetta Resources Inc.

The $2.1 billion deal gives Noble its first foothold in the Eagle Ford and Permian shale plays in Texas.

Houston-based Noble acquires about 50,000 net acres in the Eagle Ford and 56,000 net acres in the Permian. Those assets currently produce about 63,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day for Rosetta, about 53,000 fewer barrels per day than Noble produced in the first quarter in…
