Colorado Ice changes name to Crush, adopting name of Elway’s former AFL team

The Colorado Ice, the Indoor Football League team that plays its home games at Loveland’s Budweiser Events Center, announced on Wednesday that the team is changing its name to the Colorado Crush.

The Reporter-Herald reports that the trademark on the name had recently expired, paving the way for the change.

Legendary former Denver Broncos quarterback and current Broncos general manager John Elway owned an Arena Football League team that used the name Colorado Crush from 2003 to 2008, winning the AFL title in 2005.
