Dickey’s Barbecue Pit set for Loveland opening

LOVELAND — The husband-and-wife team of Rex Schweers and Brenda Black are opening a Dickey’s Barbecue Pit franchise in Loveland with a three-day grand opening celebration starting Thursday.

The fast-casual Texas-style barbecue restaurant is at 104 E. 29th St. Schweers and Black, who reside in Loveland, also operate a Dickey’s franchise in Fort Collins at 2721 S. College Ave.

Thursday, the first 50 guests receive gift cards worth up to $50. On Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. guests can catch Country radio station K99 KUAD and grab a barbecue special, including $2 pulled pork barbecue sandwiches. One guest will win a $500 gift card, and three guests will receive free barbecue for a year. Saturday, guests can stock up on their Dickey’s Barbecue gear, when merchandise will be given away.

Schweers and Black are not the only Dickey’s franchise owners in Northern Colorado. Derek and Jennifer O’Hara operate two Dickey’s locations in Greeley, at 6628 W. 10th St. and 2331 23rd Ave.

Dallas-based Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants Inc. was founded in 1941 by Travis Dickey. It has more than 500 locations in 43 states.
