Hartford Homes begins construction on 287-home subdivision in Wellington

WELLINGTON — Hartford Homes Inc. is beginning to build the first of 287 homes it plans for the Harvest Village subdivision in Wellington.

The Windsor-based developer is advertising homes ranging from 1,476 to 2,200 square feet and priced from $279,000 to $315,000 in the 92-acre subdivision located west of Interstate 25 and near Fifth Street, Ronald Reagan Avenue and Rice Elementary School.

“The platting process for this began before the downturn, and once that hit, it never got approved,” said Landon Hoover, Hartford Homes president, “It finally got approved in January this year.”

Hartford Homes is building three model homes and five spec homes on the site, Hoover said, and they should be finished by late summer.

“We saw so much demand and interest that we wanted to start early,” he said. “We’re going to start writing contracts and presales. We’ll start construction on more homes as soon as we get those contracts.”

The builder held a “kickoff event” Thursday to spread the word about the new subdivision. “More than 120 people had expressed interest, and 90 showed up,” Hoover said.
