Loveland-based Summit Pathology acquiring Cheyenne’s AnaPath Diagnostics

LOVELAND — Summit Pathology, a Loveland-based operator of pathology and clinical laboratories for hospitals in Northern Colorado and Wyoming, is in the process of acquiring AnaPath Diagnostics Inc., a full-service medical laboratory based in Cheyenne, Wyo.

Financial terms of the deal expected to close Aug. 1 were not disclosed. Once the deal is closed, AnaPath’s name will change to Summit Pathology.

AnaPath Diagnostics’ owners Drs. Phil Haberman and Jakub Stefka will become partners of Summit Pathology, owned by a group of 11 pathologists, said Andrea Davidson, a spokeswoman for Summit Pathology. Pathologists diagnose diseases from tissue samples.

Summit Pathology is under contract with 10 hospitals in the region, including North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, and Medical Center of the Rockies and McKee Medical Center, both in Loveland. Summit Pathology will take over AnaPath’s contract with the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.

Summit Pathology will add three pathologists from AnaPath, including Haberman and Stefka, to its staff of 15 pathologists, and offer jobs to eight of AnaPath’s 12 employees, who will continue to work in Cheyenne. Summit has 60 employees, Davidson said.

Summit Pathology provides services including general surgical pathology, breast pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, gastrointestinal pathology, dermatopathology, transfusion medicine, microbiology and clinical chemistry.
