Colorado State University begins site preparation for new football stadium

Colorado State University announced on Tuesday that site preparation has begun for the school’s new football stadium slated to be built in time for the 2017 season.

The school said fencing has been erected around the perimeter of the site, south of the intersection of Pitkin Street and Meridian Ave. Old concrete and asphalt from surface parking lots there will be recycled and used in construction of a new 870-space parking lot slated to open in August on Research Drive near the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Construction on the stadium itself is scheduled to begin this summer, with a ceremonial groundbreaking planned for the weekend of CSU’s Sept. 12 home game against Minnesota.
