Greeley firefighters return to wastewater and injection well site, cleanup follows

A wastewater and injection well site northeast of the Greeley-Weld County Airport was struck by a lightning, catching fire and setting off a series of explosions that shot tanks into the air, the Greeley Tribune reported.

Cleanup continued into the weekend after the fire Friday. Four homes closest to the area were evacuated as a precaution, though no employees or residents were injured during the blaze.

Damage to the facility was estimated around $1.5 million.
