CSU partners with Broncos to offer sports-management courses

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State University said Monday that it will join the Denver Broncos to offer three courses for undergraduate students minoring in sports management at the university.

Known as the Denver Broncos Sports Management Institute, the program will start this spring with the following courses: Foundations of Sport Management, Inclusive Sport Organizations and Sports Marketing.

The classes will count toward a proposed minor in sports management at the university if approved by the CSU faculty council.

“This program will allow us to expand our involvement with higher education in our home state and help mentor local students interested in pursuing a career in sports,” Broncos’ president and chief executive Joe Ellis said in a statement.

Students will benefit from a variety of course offerings developed by Colorado State faculty and take part in hands-on experiences and opportunities with the Denver Broncos organization. The program will include internships with the Broncos, guest lectures from management and case studies developed with the team.

The institute builds on a relationship between the Broncos and Colorado State that has included work on a variety of topics, including turf management, business, marketing and public relations courses and activities as well as CSU student internships with the Broncos.
