Boulder, Northern Colorado passed over as Pro Challenge host cities

Neither the Boulder Valley nor Northern Colorado landed spots as host cities for the 2015 USA Pro Challenge – at least not yet anyway.

Race officials on Thursday announced the start and finish host cities for six of the seven stages of the race slated to take place Aug. 17-23, including an overall race start in Steamboat Springs.

Organizers, however, are seeking input from fans on where to route Stage 6. Fans can visit www.prochallenge.com/2015stage6 to express their ideas about their ideal Stage 6 route.

Organizers will compile the best of the ideas to form the second-to-last stage.

Boulder served as the starting point for the race’s final stage last year, while the race passed through Northern Colorado in 2013. Fans last year voted on host cities for the final stage. The race will once again finish in Denver this year.

While final routes are still to be determined, stages announced Thursday for the 2015 race include:

Stage 1: Steamboat Springs circuit race

Stage 2: Steamboat Springs to Arapahoe Basin

Stage 3: Copper Mountain Resort to Aspen

Stage 4: Aspen to Breckenridge

Stage 5: Breckenridge individual time trial

Stage 6: To be determined

Stage 7: Golden to Denver.
