95% of Coloradans given option to renew health plan
Many policies had to be canceled because of new rules stemming from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, but most consumers in Colorado were offered the option to renew their plans and continue them into 2014. Any policy that was not renewed will be canceled and will no longer be available in the new year.
The Division does not yet have statistics on how many consumers chose to take advantage of the renewal opportunity, according to Vincent Plymell, communications manager for the Division of Insurance.

All insurance companies were required to inform customers about all of their possible options, including shopping with another company or through the state’s insurance exchange, Connect for Health Colorado.
Those plans that were renewed will remain in effect for 12 months from the renewal date, Plymell said. Deadlines for renewal vary by carrier.
