Longmont’s sales-tax revenue up 9.2%
LONGMONT – The city of Longmont’s revenue from sales and use tax collections increased 9.2 percent in July when compared with the same period a year ago, according to the city finance department’s latest tax report.
Longmont’s tax revenue collections for the month totaled $3,793,608, up from $3,473,029 for July 2010.
Automotive, food and utilities categories of sales tax revenue all showed healthy gains in July 2011 compared with July 2010. The manufacturing and vehicle categories showed use tax revenue collection up in July 2011 compared to July 2010. The lumber category was the only one where use tax revenue was down in July 2011.

In total, the city’s sales and use tax revenue through July has increased 7.4 percent from the same seven months in 2010. Longmont has collected nearly $26.7 million, putting it at about 56.5 percent of its total budget target for the first seven months of the year.
