Homelessness Prevention Initiative receives Pharos Grant

FORT COLLINS – The Homelessness Prevention Initiative has received a
$30,000 Pharos Grant from the Bohemian Foundation for program
enhancements that will enable HPI to better serve low-income families in
the area.

HPI provides rental assistance and services to help with clients’
financial literacy. Additionally, HPI offers extra assistance to
families with children who are experiencing extraordinary needs, as
funding allows. The Bohemian Foundation grant will allow HPI to offer
options to qualified clients immediately, according to a release from
HPI last week.

“The HPI Extra Education program, which we offer in partnership with
GreenPath, helps motivated clients improve their financial literacy,”
said HPI Executive Director Sue Beck-Ferkiss in the release. “Getting
better money management skills helps move families toward
self-sufficiency. Bohemian’s support will make a big impact for a lot of
families.”

HPI is a local initiative that has been providing emergency rental
assistance to families since 2001. Assistance – less than $300 per
family on average – is provided to families at risk for immediate
eviction.
