Feds: Boulder home prices up slightly

BOULDER — Home prices in the Boulder area bucked national and regional trends by gaining in value during the three-month period that ended Sept. 30, according to a report release Wednesday by the federal government.

House prices in Boulder rose by 0.98 percent during the three-month period. They have risen 0.55 percent over the past 12 months, according to data from the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s seasonally adjusted purchase-only house price index (HPI).

The report is calculated using home sales price information from Fannie Mae- and Freddie Mac-acquired mortgages.

Nationally, sales prices were 1.6 percent lower in the third quarter than in the second quarter of 2010, and prices fell 3.2 percent from the third quarter of 2009 to the third quarter of 2010.

Sale prices in the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield area fell 2.27 during the year and 1.91 percent during the quarter, the report said.
