Broomfield hires eco-devo director
BROOMFIELD – The City and County of Broomfield announced on Monday it has hired a Montana executive to be its first economic development director.
Joseph P. McClure will start the job in the middle of November, a statement from City and County Manager George Di Ciero said.
McClure’s annual salary is $124,000. He will join the staff of the manager’s office and be charged with attracting new businesses and research and development labs to Broomfield. The position’s purpose is to solidify Broomfield’s economic base for jobs and economic stability.

The appointment is the last part of a restructuring of the city’s relationship with the Broomfield Economic Development Corp. McClure will be working closely in partnership with BEDC.
McClure was one of more than 100 people who applied in a nationwide search.
McClure is moving from Billings, Montana, where he has lived since 2001. Most recently, McClure was the chief executive of Advanced Care Hospital of Montana in Billings, a post he held since the hospital opened in January 2008.
Before that he was executive director of the Big Sky Economic Development Authority in Billings. He worked with Montana’s congressional delegation to accomplish economic development objectives, the press release said.
