Cedar Point wind farms to use Vestas turbines

BROOMFIELD – Vestas will supply 139 turbines for the Cedar Point Wind
Projects in eastern Colorado.

The 250-megawatt order will be filled by the company’s manufacturing
facilities in Colorado. The Cedar Point project, currently under
construction, is primarily located in Lincoln and Elbert counties. It is
slated for completion in late 2011.

“Cedar Point Wind will benefit Colorado in two ways – by supplying clean
energy to Colorado homes under a 20-year power purchase agreement with
Public Service Co. of Colorado and by providing employment of up to 200
new construction jobs with more jobs to follow once construction is
complete,´ said Martha Wyrsch, president of Vestas Americas, in a
prepared statement. “We are extremely pleased to work with Public
Service Co. of Colorado, an Xcel Energy company, to deliver turbines
made from our factories in Windsor, Brighton and Pueblo.”

The company currently operates a blades factory in Windsor, a
nacelles-assembly factory in Brighton, and the world’s largest tower
manufacturing facility in Pueblo. A second blades factory is planned for
2011 in Brighton.

The day before Vestas made the order public, project owner Renewable
Energy Systems Americas Inc., based in Broomfield, announced an
agreement to sell Cedar Point to Canadian firm Enbridge Inc. for $500
million. The agreement requires RES Americas to construct the wind farm
and transmission line under a fixed price. Vestas will provide
operations and maintenance services under a five-year, fixed price
service, maintenance and warranty agreement.
