IBMC Longmont campus under construction

LONGMONT – Work has begun to convert the former New Frontier Bank building at 2315 N. Main St. in Longmont into the fourth campus of the Institute of Business and Medical Careers.

ThunderPup Construction of Fort Collins, which remodeled the former state employment office at 3842 S. Mason St. into IBMC’s main Fort Collins campus in 2008, is handling the transformation from bank to school. The renovation is set for completion for classes to start on Sept. 20.

Richard Laub, IBMC owner and CEO, said the 8,834-square-foot building is in good shape after going through an extensive remodel by New Frontier in 2004. The building was purchased earlier this month from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. – which took possession of New Frontier in April 2009 – for $1.25 million in a deal brokered by Dan Leuschen and Steve Kawulok of Sperry Van Ness.

Steve Steele, president of IBMC, said the first phase of construction will be classrooms, a library, massage clinic rooms and administrative offices. He said the second phase will add 6,000 to 8,000 square feet to the west of the current building.

“We are so excited to finally be in Longmont,” Laub said. “Students have been commuting to our Fort Collins campus from this area for the last 22 years.”

IBMC offers certificate, diploma and associate degree programs in medical assisting, pharmacy technician, medical billing and coding, paralegal, business administration and accounting, administrative assistant and therapeutic massage.
