Longmont sales and use tax down
LONGMONT – Sales and use tax collections for the month of July in Longmont decreased 8.4 percent compared to the same month a year ago.
Sales tax revenue dropped 7 percent and use tax revenue dropped 22.4 percent, according to the city’s monthly report released today.
Automotive, food, general and utilities categories showed decreases of 8.2 percent, 1. 5 percent, 4.2 percent and 6.3 percent, respectively.
Use-tax activity showed lumber, manufacturing and vehicle categories decreased 20.5 percent, 48.9 percent and 25 percent, respectively.
The city had budgeted for $3.9 million in sales and use tax revenue for July but only collected about $3 million.
