Vestas attracts Danish company to Fort Lupton

FORT LUPTON – Bach Composite Industry, a Danish manufacturer of composite wind turbine components, will build its first North American facility in Fort Lupton. The factory will eventually employ 100 to 150 workers.

Bach’s new facility will use a sophisticated manufacturing process to make composite products for wind energy customers such as Brighton-based Vestas Nacelles America Inc. Vestas also has a turbine blade manufacturing facility in Windsor.

The announcement of the new facility, which will be located in the former Colorado Railcar building in Fort Lupton and begin production in early 2010, was made Wednesday by Gov. Bill Ritter, state economic development director Don Marostica and Larry Burkhardt, director of Upstate Colorado Economic Development.

Ways to thank a caregiver

If you have a caregiver or know someone who has been serving as a primary caregiver, March 3rd is the day to reach out and show them how much they are valued!

“We’re very pleased to welcome Bach as the newest member of Colorado’s New Energy Economy,” Ritter said. “Bach’s decision to locate its first North American manufacturing plant in Fort Lupton will create jobs, strengthen our economy and continue to lead us toward a quick and strong economic recovery.”

Bach CEO Geert Skovsgaard cited Colorado’s business-friendly environment, skilled workforce and dedication to economic development as key factors in the company’s decision to choose the state.

“Our decision to locate in Fort Lupton is a direct result of the extraordinary attention and assistance we received from the Governor’s economic team, which made it possible to acquire, entitle, renovate and occupy a vacant industrial building more quickly than I ever could have hoped,” Skovsgaard said.

Skovsgaard also thanked Kittie Hook of Fuller Real Estate for her “crucial role” in facilitating the building’s acquisition.
