Embla acquiring Covidien division
BROOMFIELD – Embla Systems, a company focused solely on sleep diagnostics, is set to acquire Covidien’s sleep diagnostic division, the companies announced Thursday.
While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, Covidien Ltd. (NYSE: COV) part of the acquisition, which is subject to closing conditions, includes Covidien’s sleep diagnostic products branded as Sandman.
“We know (sleep) impacts every aspect of our lives and this acquisition puts us at the forefront of the industry,” David Baker, Broomfield-based Embla’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
When combined, the two companies will have about 1,700 customers in North America and about 2,500 customers worldwide.
Mansfield, Mass.-based Covidien has a large operation in Boulder, but its Sandman sleep diagnostic division is based in Ottawa, Canada, according to a press release.
