CSU aims for $500 million by 2012

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State University officially kicked-off a campaign this weekend aimed at raising $500 million within the next three years.

The funds will be used to provide scholarships and fellowships as well as for facilities and educational programs. The Campaign for Colorado State University has been quietly under way for four years and has already raised $290 million. The public launch was held at the Green and Gold Gala on Saturday at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver.

“The campaign will build a strong cornerstone of private support for Colorado State — part of a sustainable financial foundation that will serve our future alumni for generations to come,´ said Tony Frank, president of Colorado State University, in a prepared statement. “With this campaign, we’re asking all those who believe in CSU’s mission to help build a stable, sustainable future for Colorado’s state university.”

The priorities were set through a collaboration with CSU’s academic units, coordinated by Joyce Berry, the vice president of advancement and strategic initiatives. The areas of focus for the campaign are academic excellence; research and outreach programs to solve universal challenges; and new and renovated facilities.
