PVHS “Most Wired” for sixth year

FORT COLLINS – For the sixth consecutive year, Poudre Valley Health System has been named one of America’s 100 Most Wired health care organizations by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine.

The magazine noted that PVHS’ information technology systems are helping to enhance patient care, improve quality, provide better customer service, fulfill business processes, manage workforce issues and assist with patient safety.

Rulon Stacey, PVHS president and CEO, said the health system is continuing to invest in expanding its information technology while other organizations are slowing down due to the ailing national economy.

“Thanks in many ways to information technology, PVHS is at the very leading edge of quality, and we intend to remain there,” he said.

PVHS was one of two Colorado health-care organizations named to this year’s top 100 Most Wired hospitals, with Denver Health and Hospital Authority being the other.

PVHS’ emphasis on information technology was one reason why the health system was the nation’s only health-care organization to earn the 2008 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, an honor established by Congress to recognize the nation’s top-performing organizations.
