MCR earns LEED Gold, customer service award

LOVELAND – Medical Center of the Rockies, which opened in February 2007, has earned LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The 528,000-square-foot hospital in the Centerra development in east Loveland is believed to be the largest hospital in the nation to earn Gold LEED certification. LEED certification is based on a point system for environmentally sensitive construction and operation of the facility.

MCR earned its certification for such features as water and energy conservation, HVAC components optimized for energy efficiency and indoor air quality, daylighting, use of recycled and local materials, and low volatile organic compound-emitting carpets and paint.

MCR was also recently honored by Avatar International as one of the nation’s 20 overall best-performing hospitals in consistently meeting high standards of patient care across multiple service lines. It was the second year in a row that MCR received the award.
