New NCBR researcher prepares to go paperless

FORT COLLINS – The multi-talented Michael D. Wailes has joined the Northern Colorado Business Report as Chief Researcher. An award-winning writer and editor who has contributed freelance photography to NCBR for several years, he is now responsible for all data collection for the paper, prepares the ranked lists of companies that appear in each issue, and oversees the various industry directories.

Since joining NCBR in April, he has worked on the Blueprints construction directory and the MD medical directory which will be mailed to subscribers very soon and is preparing the upcoming Commercial Real Estate Sourcebook as well as looking ahead to the Book of Lists at the end of the year.

His experience spans the entire news operation, from layout, design and pre-press for The Colorado Statesman to managing the overnight production crew for the Greeley Tribune and riding herd on all aspects of the Recorder newspapers in Berthoud and Lyons. Wailes has also produced and produced nationally syndicated radio news programs.

For the 21st century, Wailes has added Web application development to his skill set, most recently building social networks and providing technical support for Holonyx Inc. in Fort Collins. This has served him well as NCBR makes the transition to the latest version of DataJoe, the company’s proprietary database management system.

Fewer faxes major goal

One of Wailes’ goals for the Research Department is to reduce the number of faxes sent requesting updated information from local businesses. “By Oct. 1, we will be sending and receiving all of our survey questionnaires through e-mail,” he explained. He will also be working with the DataJoe staff to upgrade and streamline the process for businesses to submit their data directly through the website at www.ncbr.com.

Any businesses that would like to be included in the database for consideration for NCBR ranked lists as well as inclusion in directories and other important projects should send their preferred contact information to research@ncbr.com, then add communications@datajoe.com to your e-mail address book to ensure that the surveys bypass the spam filter.

For more information, contact Wailes at 970-221-5400, ext. 227.

How to get surveyed by NCBR
