2008 Windsor tornado state’s most expensive

WINDSOR – The tornado that devastated Windsor on May 22, 2008, resulted in an estimated $193.5 million in damages to property and vehicles, according to a report from the Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association.

The tornado left one person dead and resulted in about 24,000 auto and homeowner claims, making it the most expensive tornado in the state’s history. The total is up by about $46.5 million over an earlier estimate of $147 million.

The estimate does not include commercial claims by businesses, the report said.
