Boulder Theater opens new lounge
BOULDER – In an effort to generate revenues that exceed rental income, the Boulder Theater at 2032 14th St. in Downtown Boulder has ramped up its offerings to include a trattoria-inspired restaurant and bar.
The brainchild of General Manager Cheryl Liguori, the 840 square feet of space previously was leased to The General Store, directly south of the Boulder Theater box office.
The Lounge at Boulder Theater opened June 27 and offers daily happy hours from 4 to 6 p.m., with $3 well drinks, house wine and beer on tap. The menu features fresh and local produce served in salads, gazpacho, bruschette and panini, with changes made weekly to reflect the vegetables and fruits that are in season.
A capacity of 55 diners with outdoor patio seating that accommodates eight – or four tables for two – the restaurant allows diners to grab meals “to go,” to bring with them into the theater for shows.
“We wanted a casual, comfortable environment for people to come have a glass of wine and a bite to eat before or after a show,´ said Sarah Coffield, the Boulder Theater’s publicist.
A 1930s couch, a retro Italian lamp and a fireplace are features in the renovation that create a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
