Sun cuts Broomfield, Louisville jobs
BROOMFIELD – Sun Microsystems Inc. (Nasdaq: JAVA) notified the state Thursday that the company will cut more than hundred Colorado jobs.
A total of 212 employees at the Broomfield and Louisville campuses will lose their jobs in Santa Clara-Calif.-based Sun’s effort to help save between $100 million and $150 million in annual operating costs companywide.
Of the 212 employees, 13 will be laid off between July 21 and Aug. 4 while the remaining jobs will be cut between Sept. 8 and 22, according to state documents.
Dana Lengkeek, Sun spokeswoman, said the company laid off about 1,000 employees total throughout the company. A total of three employees from the Colorado Springs and Lone Tree campuses will also be laid off between Sept. 8 and 22.
The employees range throughout the company hierarchy, she said.
