California company acquires Solidware

BOULDER -Coverity Inc., a San Francisco-based software producer, has acquired Boulder-based Solidware Technologies Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

By using other tools along with its own in the form of an aggregate, Solidware’s products review computer code and help find potential bug-laden areas so programmers can concentrate there. That can save time because the areas with the highest potential for bugs are checked first and the software can be debugged before its release.

Coverity, which also produces software to analyze and detect code problems, plans to keep Solidware’s office in Boulder and is considering an expansion of the Boulder operations, said Jim Shissler, Coverity’s public relations director.

Shissler said Coverity, which has offices throughout the world including Germany, Japan and Canada, plans to integrate the two companies and begin selling products this summer.

While the financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, he said the company expects to see a “pretty good impact” coming from the purchase.
