Performance Health founder Silverman to head CTEK Boulder

BOULDER – Entrepreneur and Boulder businessman Marc Silverman has been selected as executive director of CTEK Boulder, a business catalyst supporting entrepreneurs and startups.

Silverman replaced Jim Pollock who in April resigned as executive director of the 501c(3) nonprofit CTEK Boulder to be president of AWhere, a CTEK Boulder client company based in Golden.

Empowering communities

Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP), part of the UnitedHealthcare family, has pledged its commitment to uplift these communities through substantial investments in organizations addressing the distinct needs of our communities.

Silverman, 53, has more than 25 years experience in technology product design, development, manufacturing, distribution, corporate management, governance, investor relations and early stage financing.

His most recent company was Boulder-based Performance Health Technologies, which he founded. He served as president, chief executive and director. He is currently a consultant to the company.

Silverman has been on the CTEK advisory board since last October and is a member of CTEK Angels.

“I’m an engineer by background and have done venture capital work,” Silverman said. “I’ve been on both sides of boards and fundraising, and I love working with startups. It’s very fulfilling.”

One of Silverman’s responsibilities will be to “develop a Boulder-centric CTEK.” CTEK Boulder has been operated by Denver-based CTEK Central as a “corporately owned” venture center. The two other CTEK centers – the Longmont Entrepreneurial Network’s CTEK Longmont Venture Center and Denver Ventures at Stapleton’s CTEK Stapleton Venture Center – are separate entities.

“Clearly the idea is that CTEK Boulder will become independent entity at some point in time,” he said, but could not predict the time frame.

Silverman is looking for office space. Whether he takes on additional room to house client companies, as is done at CTEK’s Longmont and Stapleton venture centers, is up in the air, he said.

CTEK Boulder was founded in 1989 as the Boulder Technology Incubator to help early-stage entrepreneurs through advice and support.
