Nice place to park a motorplex

You just can’t go wrong with a location at Centerra in Loveland these days. You could even say some dealers are racing their cars to get there – literally and figuratively.

The 100-acre Motorplex at Centerra is just one of the driving forces of the Centerra juggernaut. Co’s BMW was the first auto dealership to set up shop there last year and reported a 35 percent increase in sales in its first two months. The flattering sales figures are certainly attractive and should help fill the 16-dealership capacity (five dealerships are open or near opening as of Dec. 2006), but I think location is the most alluring feature of the ‘plex.

Sure, there is the advantage of locating at the new “it” spot in Northern Colorado and surrounding yourself with like businesses to increase shopper traffic, but the proximity to Weld County is what I mean by alluring.

Population estimates from the 2005 census put Larimer County at 271,927 and Weld County at 228,943 – just under 43,000 fewer than Larimer.

Granted, not all vehicle registrations are for new vehicles (approximately one in 10 registrations in Larimer is for a new vehicle), but moving closer to Weld has some extra incentive.
