Business Hall of Fame inducting 7 business leaders at May 5 event

BOULDER – Seven Boulder County businesspeople will be inducted into the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame at its annual induction luncheon Friday, May 5, at the Millennium Harvest House Hotel in Boulder.

The Hall of Fame was established in 1992 to recognize and honor women and men who personify “business at its best.”  Inductees are chosen not only for their business success, but for the direction, energy and philanthropic support they give in their communities. More than 75 businesspeople have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame, with plaques of all inductees, resides at the Millennium Harvest House.

Tickets for the luncheon event, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., are $50. Reservations can be made by calling (303) 998-3856. Corporate tables also are available.

Inductees into the 2006 Hall of Fame are:

Dave Hight: President of Boulder-based McGuckin Hardware, which employs 300 people and is recognized for its excellence in customer service. Hight has been active in the community as a volunteer and contributor for more than 45 years.

George Heinrichs & Stephen Meer: Founders of SCC Communications, now Longmont-based Intrado Inc., which develops software and services for 911 telecommunications. Intrado has provided leadership and support to numerous community organizations including: Longmont Community Food Center, Habitat for Humanity and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Stephen Tebo: Owner of Tebo Development, a commercial real estate company in Boulder. Tebo is a regular sponsor of numerous community organizations including Boulder Community Hospital, Imagine!, Boy Scouts and YWCA.

Marguerite Peoples: Owner and operator of The Lyons CafÇ for 40 years. In addition to her food service, Peoples has nurtured the Lyons Community as a charter member of the Lyons Chamber, the Lyons Planning Board and generously supports all town and school activities.    

Jesse Aweida:  Founded Storage Technology Corp. in Louisville, along with Juan Rodriquez and Zoltan Herger. StorageTek was one of the largest corporate contributors to community organizations in the area. Aweida is now a managing partner of Aweida Venture Partners in Superior.

Vanderlynn Stow: Certified public accountant and shareholder at Brock and Company CPAs PC. Stow has more than 37 years of public accounting experience and has provided leadership to the Longmont Area Economic Council, the Longmont Manufacturers’ Council, Longmont Rotary Club, Boulder County United Way, OUR Center, Wells Fargo Bank and Junior Achievement.
