The new associates include: Michelle Olson, who has been licensed for three years and previously held a paralegal position at Commercial Leases; Denise Kloster, licensed for 10 years and sold real estate in Longmont before moving to Loveland; Mason Bryant, who obtained his license a year ago and worked as a buyer specialist on the Riedel Team, and Sherry Ames, who is experienced in management, sales and marketing. She previously served as director of operations for New Hope Media.
The Council of Residential Specialists awarded Jim Kepler with the Certified Residential Specialist Designation. Kepler is a broker associate/partner with The Group Inc. Real Estate in Greeley. academics
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently awarded Colorado State University scientist John Knaff with the David Johnson Award. Knaff was specifically recognized for his basic research improving the understanding of tropical phenomenon and predicting tropical cyclone intensity.
Aims Community College in Greeley named Gary Bardsley of Boulder as the new chief information officer. Bardsley spent 15 years as an interdisciplinary telecommunications professor and associate chair of graduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder.

David and Carol Wood received the National Multiple Sclerosis Societys Hope Award. Brian Thompson received the MS Champion Award. The awards were presented recently at the 11th annual Dinner of Champions held in Fort Collins.

Larimer County Commissioner Kathay Rennels recently accepted the volunteer position of campaign chair for the 2004 United Way campaign. In 2003, the United Way of Loveland, Berthoud and Estes Park, and the Fort Collins Area United Way joined to form the United Way of Larimer County. Rennels will be the first countywide campaign chair for Larimer County.
The Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce recently added Christy Welfelt as membership account executive. Welfelt earned her bachelors degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing. She then worked at a local motorcycle dealership providing advertising and marketing services.

Union Colony Bank recently promoted Rhonda Arisman of Greeley to senior underwriter/assistant vice president. Arisman has been with Union Colony Bank for 17 years and has 25 years of banking experience. Union Colony Bank also promoted Jennifer Gehrman of Greeley to assistant vice president/commercial loans. Gehrman has been with Union Colony Bank for six years and has eight years of banking experience. Craig Goble recently joined Union Colony Bank as vice president/commercial lender. Previously, Goble was vice president/commercial lender of Community Banks of Southern Colorado, in the towns of Rocky Ford, Pueblo and Walsenburg. Goble has 22 years of banking experience.
A Readers Digest article recently quoted Windsors Colleen Miller, a certified financial planner and owner of Finance by Design Inc. The article was “Safe Bets: Low-risk places to put your money and still cash in” by Marc Myers. It appeared in the March 2004 issue.
Investment One, located at First National Bank in Fort Collins, recently recognized Kurt Gunderson as a senior financial advisor. This is the third consecutive year Gunderson received this recognition. Gunderson has been a financial advisor with Investment One for nearly 10 years.
The Denver office of Kirkpatrick, Pettis, Smith, Polian Inc. promoted Bradley Fawcett to senior vice president. Fawcett earned his bachelors and masters degree from Colorado State University. Fawcett joined the company in 1996 as assistant vice president, was promoted to vice president in 2000 and to first vice president in 2001. Also promoted to senior vice president were Peter Forbes and Scot Stebbins.
Union Safe Deposit Bank promoted Steve Allen to vice president/sales manager of the financial management group in Stockton, Calif. Allen is a former student of the University of Northern Colorado.

Aqua Engineering Inc. of Fort Collins named Elaine Bustos general manager. Bustos has an MBA from Colorado State University. She management experience with companies in the engineering/architectural and manufacturing fields.
Bob Gowing recently joined Jim Sell Design Inc., a Fort Collins-based landscape architecture and engineering firm. Gowing has 17 years of experience in civil engineering and has practiced in the region since 1997.
A Jury of Fellows recently elected Michael J. Holtz to be a member of the College of Fellows. The Northern Colorado Chapter of The American Institute of Architects nominated Holtz as a member and past director. The Fellowship is the highest membership honor of the American Institute of Architects.
Construction
Northern Colorados Alliance Construction Solutions recently added Ed Maierhofer as an assistant project manager. Maierhofers background is in civil engineering with an emphasis on structures. He is currently working of the $30 million Legacy Project at McKee Medical Center.
