March sales tax collections in Fort Collins up 11.6 percent over March 2003
FORT COLLINS – Net taxable retail sales in Fort Collins in March were 9.8 percent higher than in February and up 11.6 percent over March 2003, according to figures released by the city sales tax office.
The amount of net taxable retail sales was $149.2 million. March was the seventh consecutive month in which sales were higher than the corresponding month of the previous year.
“Sales were strong across the board,´ said Alan Krcmarik, city financial officer. “The one sector that has been responsible for the largest share of the growth is the energy sector.”
Krcmarik said the city’s “good start in 2004” should mean that it will reach its budget projections.
